AI Friend Of Foe?

As an author of many books, magazine editor, content creator and researcher the thought of Artificial Intelligence (AI) taking over writing any of my material is sacrilege.  But I have to admit AI does have some benefits.

First Experience with Using AI

As a writer, I am perfectly happy sitting in front of the computer creating content.

I’m one of the old-fashioned touch typists, yeah, I’ve been around long enough to remember the time before computers of using a typewriter.  Yet, even I am still stunned at how fast the time flies.  Three or four hours can quickly evaporate in what appears to be only 30 minutes especially when the mind is overflowing with ideas and concepts and my fingers don’t work quickly enough to get it all onto paper.  So, the thought of AI taking away this pleasure makes me grind my teeth.  But I decided to give AI a try.

My first experiences weren’t good.

It took a long time to sign up to ChatGPT.  It was busy and I got messages telling me to come back later.  It took several attempts before the account was opened.

Next, I asked it to do some research on the financial markets and got another message that it doesn’t have access to current data.

But when it came to finding content for articles it really came into its own.

Too Much Information

Once I realized AI could not produce the type of information and data I wanted in a timely manner, my next thoughts were what would it be good at producing for my business.

I asked it to explain the benefits of Bonds.

The information flowed non-stop and the message at the bottom of the page said tell us when to stop.

I was so impressed with the quality of the content I have a chapter in my latest book on affiliate marketing (to be released soon) about the benefits of AI for lead magnets, content marketing, social media marketing and email marketing.

It does have limitations on accessing current financial market data but ask it to explain benefits or how something works and it has an endless stream of information.

Is AI really the Future?

A couple of weeks ago, I was on a live call with Kris Marszalek, the CEO and Co-founder of crypto.com.  He was talking about how they will use AI for their call centres and other functions in the near future and have already developed AI systems AMI and ALFRED

He explained that there are times when they have over 100,000 calls coming into their call centres and not enough staff to cope with the volume.  AI can answer calls quicker and customize the answers specifically for the caller’s needs. Callers are happy as they have their answer immediately without call centre staff having to refer calls to someone else with the knowledge.

When Lisa Marie Presley died in January 2023, a letter she had written about coping with grief was released and a verion was read by AI.

It was almost impossible to tell it was AI.  It took breaths and had an amazing voice that if I hadn’t read beforehand that it was AI I would not have believed it.

AI brought an important subject to life, especially for the many blind or people with sight impairment.

The future uses of AI are untold.

A Business Tool

As someone who coaches clients to start online businesses and frequently gets the response, I don’t have time, I can see the potential for AI as a business tool.

Even the grumblers who say they don’t know what to write can produce great articles week after week.

AI Intelligence

If AI can help create content for Marketing, Sales, Websites and Digital products how quickly can an online business be started?

In the world of affiliate marketing, it becomes so much easier to have the system working and sales coming in often within hours rather than weeks or months..

One system I was taught for building a website was to write 30 blogs in 30 days.  This then attracted the attention of algorithms and got the website ranked quicker.  Now 30 blogs can be written in an hour with the help of AI.

Content creation, social media and email marketing have never been easier.  AI has endless ideas.

Is AI Friend or Foe?

I can see many benefits in the use of AI in today’s world.

It has the ability to save time by creating hours or weeks of content in just a few minutes.

It can covert written text into audio for assisting the sight impaired.

It can cope with many telephone calls in minutes at the busiest of times in a business when it is impossible to suddenly bring in enough staff to cope.

And yes, there are some jobs likely to disappear.  I do believe, AI has a place in today’s economy where instant access or results are demanded now.

But nothing will take away my enjoyment of clicking away on a keyboard to create books and other content.
